The importance of bulletproof vests for police dogs is clear. What most people don't realize is, temperature controllers for the K-9 patrol cars are equally important.
Police K-9s spend most of their working hours inside the patrol car, waiting to be needed. When they are needed, a bulletproof vest can be a lifesaver. But when they are not needed, the dog may be required to stay in the patrol car alone. During the heat of the summer, if the car's air conditioner fails, the dog can die from heat stroke in a matter of minutes. K-9s die in the U.S. every year as a result of accidental heat exposure inside a vehicle. Temperature controllers protect the dogs by monitoring the temperature in the patrol car and alerting the officer when the conditions inside the car become unsafe.
